THE AIM OF FLEET TRAINING
We shall aim to ensure that whilst driving, your employees are concentrating on what is around them at all times so that not only are they observing other road users, they are aware of the potential dangers that these road users may present and can thus anticipate what could happen next so that they have the time and space to take the appropriate action. They will always try to drive at a safe speed, with the appropriate gear engaged, and be in the correct position on the road. To achieve these objectives they will be driving to a system.    

 
THE BENEFITS OF FLEET TRAINING
Driving systematically results in less use of the brakes, particularly at higher speeds, as greater space allows more time to accelerate and decelerate progressively. Block gear changing encourages early observation and using 'brakes to slow and gears to go' results in better fuel consumption. 
 
You should not only see an improvement in your collision statistics but also in vehicle wear and tear. Less braking means less wear on tyres as well as less wear on the brakes.
To summarise, fewer collisions mean less inconvenience, lower insurance premiums, lower repair costs and costs arising out of vehicles being off the road. Better driving, means improved fuel efficiency, and less vehicle wear and tear. Not only will your costs be lower, you will be making a contribution to the reduction of carbon emissions.
Your employees will see an increase in their self esteem from knowing they are better drivers. Their driving will be less stressful and all of this will have a beneficial effect by way of greater staff morale.

THE LAW
Employers can now be found guilty of corporate manslaughter as a result of poor management causing driving related incidents. The Corporate Manslaughter Act 2007 which came into force April 2008.
The Health and Safety at Work Act requires employers, the self employed (and employees regarding their own safety) to ensure the safety and welfare of employees and members of the public who may be at risk from work related activities (including driving) so far as is reasonably practicable. 

 

THE DETAIL
Following consultation with you to find out what you want to achieve and on arrival at your workplace, our expert fleet registered instructor will give a classroom presentation to you and your driver employees on how your aims and objectives are to be achieved.
The practical work involves a risk assessment drive for each employee on a one to one basis followed by practical remedial action.
The work will finish with de-brief, feedback involving Q and A, again on a one to one basis, to be followed up by full confidential reports.
