Intensive Driving Course Structure
Beginner:
Basic understanding of how the controls of a vehicle work and cockpit drill.
Move away and stop safely, increase speed and apply higher gears.
Junctions turning left and right, giving priority and priority to proceed.
Importance of clutch control, 'the biting point' and hill starts.
Meeting other traffic and anticipation when taking or giving priority.
Use of mirrors and emergency stop.
Manoeuvres - Turn in the road, reverse into a junction to the left or to the right, parallel park (reverse), bay park (reverse).
Intermediate:
Pedestrian crossings, practise with clutch control in busier traffic and introduction to hazard perception.
Crossroads, controlled and uncontrolled.
Roundabouts including lane discipline.
Observation, awareness, anticipation and planning.
Experienced:
Lane changing.
Multi-junction roundabouts.
Dual carriageway training at higher speeds and application of 5th gear.
Overtaking safely on dual carriageway and single carriageway roads
