Time and Space Intensive Driving Courses

 

General

48 hours notice is required to avoid loss of fee should you wish to cancel or re-arrange a lesson.

The contract of driving lessons is between the customer and the company however the instructor is a self-employed independent instructor working with the Company on an agency basis. The company cannot be held liable for any compensation claim from either instructor or student, nor can it be held responsible for any traffic law violation on the part of either instructor or the student bad behaviour by the instructor toward the customer or by the customer to instructor. In the unlikely event of an instructor being deemed unsatisfactory, we shall try to provide an alternative, should this be refused the deposit for an intensive course will be retained. Additional money paid by way of an intensive course balance or an advance block booking payment for weekly lessons will be returned at the discretion of the instructor (less any work already done and an administration fee which will also be levied in the unlikely case of agreement to return the deposit).

Time and Space Driving Schools cannot be held responsible for the loss of test fee due to bad weather, illness of the examiner or failure of the instructor to provide a roadworthy vehicle. Following the driving test, the instructor will drive the student back from the test centre whether or not the student has passed.

 

If contacted with short notice, or called from certain locations, we will try to provide an instructor from an associate company.

The instructor is a highly trained professional and will advise the student as to when they should apply for the driving test. In the interest of road safety, the instructor’s vehicle may be withdrawn from the test if, at the discretion of the instructor, the student is considered unsafe, sufficient hours have not been completed or a recommended number of hours is refused. The company may cancel the test should this be booked on the condition of a number of recommended hours which is then refused. The instructor’s vehicle is available for the driving test only at the discretion of the instructor and subject to regular lessons being maintained. Some instructors may make a charge for the hire of their car on test day. 

 

Intensive courses

The contract between company and customer is valid for the duration of the hours that have been booked. Once these hours are complete the instructor is free to agree a new charge with the customer and the company's duty of care to the customer may no longer be expected.

The course of lessons must start within 6 months of payment of the deposit. If a deposit is taken for an intensive course the balance of the total fee will be paid on commencement of the course, although for experienced learners who may not need 20 hours, the payment may be made on a pay as you go basis. This will be at a reduced rate to offset the deposit. The deposit which includes test fees is not refundable but will be held for 6 months from the time of booking during which time it may be transferred. Outstanding test fees will be returned within this period on application.

Your deposit is based upon the appropriate number of hours that have been recommended.  Thus we have designed a flexible approach to our pricing neither wishing to overcharge nor undercharge. Beginners should budget for more hours if booked in for a basic twenty five hours and experienced learners will pay only for what they do.

This payment is the minumum figure required in advance; those wising to pay more toward their course may pay any amount up to the full amount. For those customers seeking to cancel the course or terminate the contract before completion, an admistration charge will be made to the requested refund calculated from the minimum deposit that would have been lost.
Those people living abroad wishing to return to the UK to take a driving test will live/have lived in the UK for at least 185 days in the last 12 months.

Fees for additional training following an intensive course are subject to the instructor’s discretion but a discount may be given on request. The deposit secures a contract between customer and the company for an intensive course of an agreed number of hours, or less only on the advice of the instructor. This will take place usually over one or two weeks or if a semi-intensive course, over several weeks. The deposit payment not only guarantees the commitment of the customer but guarantees to the customer that a driving test will be booked and secured acccording to the customer's wishes and sufficient training will be completed in time for that particular date unless by mutual consent with the instructor. Should the client decide not to complete the intensive course, any refund for hours not completed will be made at the instructor’s discretion. The deposit remains non-refundable. Should an intensive course not be taken up immediately, either at the wish of the customer or following the advice of the instructor or abusive/violent behaviour toward the instructor to such a degree that lessons are discontinued, and/or contact lost for more than 6 months; the intensive course deposit will be lost. In addition The Company reserve the right to cancel the driving test and the fee will be retained by the company against another driving test which will be booked within six months after which time the driving test fee will be lost. In the case of abusive or violent behaviour toward the instructor causing a cessation of training, should the instructor be in credit with payment it is up to their discretion whether this payment will be returned.

 

The client will pay for any further driving tests if necessary. In the event of a price rise, the fee at the time the booking deposit is paid will apply provided the course is taken within 2 months. Therefore if a fee is advertised and advised then changed prior to the deposit payment, or if the course is left longer than 2 months, the new fee will apply. The balance of the fee must be paid to the instructor at the start of the intensive course, however a part balance may be accepted at the discretion of the instructor in the case of a semi-intensive course. The charge for both theory and practical tests fees is £100 i.e £33 theory test and £67 practical test. Please note that this includes charge a small administration fee of £2 for a theory test booking and £5 for a practical test booking. Saturday tests, early morning or evening tests and tests conducted on a Bank Holiday carry a premium of £13. This premium is levied by the DSA and not by Time and Space Driving Schools Limited.

 

Trial and assessment lessons
If a booking is made for a trial lesson prior to an intensive course and, as a result, the customer requests a different instructor. Time and Space Driving Schools cannot guarantee to honour the hours originally requested by the customer.
 
Assessment lessons to determine hours of training required will only be offered to customers with a recent test fail or in exceptional circumstances experienced learners. The instructor the right to amend the number of hours required recommendtation. Trial lessons may be booked by anyone, however the customer should not expect the instructor to commit a specific number of hours.
